Project Clarity is a community-wide partnership committed to improving the health and clarity of Lake Macatawa and the Macatawa Watershed by slowing water down and reducing the amount of sediment and nutrients that currently pollute them. The goal of the project is to substantially reduce the sediments and nutrients by at least 70%. This is a legacy project which will have a lasting, profound impact on the economy, environment, and community as a whole.
The goal of Project Clarity is to restore the water quality of Lake Macatawa and the Macatawa Watershed. The multi-phased approach provides solutions focused on land restoration, Best Management Practices (BMPs), community education, and long term sustainability. The advantage of this phased approach is that each phase builds on its predecessor, thereby avoiding redundancy and providing flexibility in implementation. We include solutions that address the problems of Lake Macatawa both at the source (passive wetland restoration) and further downstream.
