    Description: Theme: Homes

    The purpose of “Nature School” is to introduce the wonders of the natural world to young children. Crafts, activities, games, books, songs, live animals, and outside exploration will be incorporated into their nature-based learning experience.
    Parents are encouraged to attend with their 4 to 7 year old - though not required. Parents or guardians are asked to attend with their 3 year old to help with bathroom use and transitioning into a group learning environment.

    Classes meet at the BOP Lab located at 5678 143rd Ave
    Registration is required:
    Space is limited.
    Fee: $10 per child or
    $5 per child for members (per class)

  • Spring Wildflowers of Sanctuary Woods

    Location: Sanctuary Woods Preserve, 66th Street, Holland, MI 49423, United States

    Description: Hike the natural trails and stairs of Sanctuary Woods with a naturalist as you find and identify woodland wildflowers. Cameras are encouraged. Sturdy hiking shoes are required. Field guides and magnifying glasses will be provided.

  • Early Birds

    Location: Stu Visser Trails, 720 West Lakewood Blvd, Holland, MI 49424

    Description: Wake up with the birds as you hike the trails with a naturalist in search of spring migrants like warblers, vireos, flycatchers and shorebirds. Binoculars and field guides are available for loan. Meet at the West Lakewood Blvd road parking lot.

  • River Clean-up

    Starts: 1:00 pm

    Ends: 4:00 pm, May 16, 2015

    Location: Kollen Park, 240 Kollen Park Boulevard, Holland, MI 49423, United States

    Description: Help clean the Macatawa River beginning at Kollen Park. Anyone under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. All boats, paddles and life vests will be provided. A limited number of seats are available in boats. Crews of volunteers will be coordinated for clean-up along the shores of the river at Kollen Park, VanBragt Park and Dunton Park.

    Location: Window on the Waterfront, 10 South River Ave., Holland MI 49423

    Description: These fun, family-friendly canoe and kayak paddles will have the group finding local wildlife, floodplain plant species, and learning about what makes our watershed unique. You will also learn about our Macatawa River Greenway project and what efforts are being taken to protect the Macatawa River and Watershed. The group will meet at the River Avenue entrance of Window-on-the-Waterfront Park. Alternate launch locations may include Windmill Island, Paw Paw Park or Adam’s Street Landing.

    Advance Payment: $10 - single kayak, $18 double kayak, $10 - bring your own
    Day of Kayaking Payment: $15 - single kayak, $26 double kayak, $15 - bring your own
