OVERVIEW: The ODC Network is a nonprofit organization focused on outdoor education and conservation throughout West Michigan. The Janitorial and Facilities  Technician is an at-will, full time and salaried employee of the ODC Network (ODCN). They work directly with the Facilities Manager and VP of Operations in daily janitorial, site maintenance and other duties involving ODCN properties. The employee is responsible for supporting the mission of the ODCN through these activities in addition to being a positive representative of the organization in the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily cleaning and janitorial services for ODCN preschools and other buildings
  • General property maintenance including: mowing lawns, edging and string trimming around trees, shrubs, sidewalks, buildings and landscape beds, trail trimming/grooming, watering trees, and weed control.
  • Assist with maintenance and upkeep of signage, buildings, animal enclosures, and nature playscape features
  • Assist with construction projects and site improvements including carpentry, framing, assembly and installations
  • Assist with management of ODCN waste materials including: trash receptacles, trash clean up, woody debris burn pile, and general facilities trash removal
  • Assist and coordinate with other ODCN staff, including project partners
  • All other duties as assigned by the ODC Executive Management, VP of Operations and the Facilities Manager

 

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Routine cleaning of buildings including: collection and disposing of trash; vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors; cleaning, stocking and sanitizing restrooms
  • Perform all grounds maintenance on ODCN properties as assigned
  • Safely operate equipment
  • Perform maintenance on buildings and facilities to include; painting, staining and minor repairs
  • Ability to develop relationships and resources that enhance the efforts of the ODCN
  • Fire extinguisher record keeping and maintenance
  • Schedule inspections and 3rd party maintenance operations
  • Notify supervisors of repair needs using current work order system
  • Manage cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment
  • Commitment to the ODC Network mission

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license and be fully insurable by the ODCN
  • High school diploma with experience in buildings, grounds and equipment maintenance and operation
  • One-year experience preferred

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift to 50 pounds and walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to work outside in various weather conditions

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

  • Lawn mowers, tractors, chainsaws, string trimmers, power tools, utility vehicles, and work vehicles with trailers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and the operation of general office equipment
