Sensory Trail Upgrades at ODC Nature Preserve
Being outside is one of the best ways to connect with those you love. Whether you’re exploring a back yard, a neighborhood park, or the Outdoor Discovery Center, time in nature reduces stress, increases creativity, promotes health, and builds relationships.
Outdoor Discovery Center nature preserves are a key aspect to how we provide these experiences for our community. The trails, fishing ponds, pavilions, and benches of Outdoor Discovery Center are designed to be your outdoor home-away-from-home. You can visit for free, dawn to dusk, every day of the year.
Progress Towards Goal
($50,000)
This summer, we hope to improve nature preserve infrastructure – and we need your help to do so. To make the main trail more accessible, we will be surfacing it with new material for improved wheelchair and stroller navigation. In addition, we hope to add benches, shade trees, and shade structures to provide resting points for guests of all ages and abilities.
Gifts of $500 or more will be recognized on signage along the trail. There will also be a limited number of benches that can be named in honor or in memory of a loved one through a donation of at least $1,500. In total, we hope to raise $50,000 to complete the following improvements:
- 20 Benches
- 20 Shade Trees
- Half Mile of Trail Resurfacing
- Shade Structure with Picnic Tables
- Signage Upgrades
Hi, I’m writing to learn more about donating money for a bench in memory of our baby, Adam, born on May 2. This page says that the minimum donation for a bench is $1500, and I wanted to confirm this info and learn about how to move forward in the process. Thank you.
