DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with the Allegan Conservation District for the opportunity to help remove garlic mustard\, an invasive plant threatening our local ecosystems. During this program\, you’ll learn to identify garlic mustard\, understand why it is harmful to native plant communities\, and discover how it spreads aggressively and alters soil conditions to outcompete native species. You’ll receive training on how to properly pull the plant by the root and dispose of it to prevent regrowth and seed spread. No experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to make a meaningful impact outdoors! \nWe recommend bringing a water bottle and wearing clothes that can get dirty. DESCRIPTION:Learn all about the world of birds during a morning of mist-netting and bird banding. Stay for a few minutes or a few hours. No prior knowledge is necessary and all ages are welcome. Depending on their abilities\, participants may be able to help retrieve birds from nets\, band birds\, record vital information about birds captured and release birds back to the wild. \nMist netting is heavily weather dependent.
