River Clean-ups

Help clean the Macatawa River of trash, debris, and other non-natural materials, on foot or by boat. Anyone under 16 years old must be with an adult. Boats and equipment will be provided if used during the cleanup.

Advisory Committees

The ODC Network has multiple advisory committees to help provide expertise for staff on a variety of topics. These committees meet throughout the year and are an important part of how the ODC Network meets its mission.

Corporate Volunteer Opportunities

ODC Network corporate partners are offered volunteer opportunities to their employees. These projects tend to be larger scale and are coordinated by a corporate team leader and a volunteer coordinator.

Youth Volunteer Opportunities

Voles

Our Volunteer League, VoLes, is a service club for teens to experience what it takes to maintain a natural area and captive wildlife and to gain insight to the ODC Network mission. This program is designed for 12 to 18 year olds who will work with ODC staff on a variety of indoor and outdoor tasks. Time may be spent improving trails, removing invasive species, cleaning animal enclosures, or assisting staff at events. Time spent volunteering may be used for school community service hours. VoLes club meetings are often scheduled for one Tuesday and one Saturday per month for a total of six meetings per session. Spring, Summer and Fall sessions are available, no prior experience or participation is required to sign up.

Summer Camp Youth Leader

The Summer Camp Youth Leader is an unpaid, volunteer position for teens 13-18 years old who want to share their love of nature and outdoor activities with younger kids. This position assists at the Outdoor Discovery Center, and at off-site locations. The volunteer’s primary job responsibilities include being a positive role model while interacting with ODC Summer Campers, assisting with camp activities (including set-up and clean-up), and assisting other staff in meeting the overall goals of the organization.
