Kristina Boersma
Support Services Director
Kristina Boersma serves as Support Services Director at Dragonflies Discovery Preschool, where she helps guide students, families, and staff as they learn and grow together in ODC’s nature-based early childhood setting. Kristina firmly believes it takes a village to raise a child—and being able to participate in that village for families is one of her greatest joys. She particularly loves to train staff and parents, sharing her deep knowledge of child development and family systems in accessible, practical ways.
Kristina has been working with children and families for almost 30 years in churches, schools, agencies, and private practice. She sees early childhood as the most magical and developmentally critical time in a person’s life, as these early years are full of possibilities to learn and expand skills. Specifically, she recognizes that challenging behaviors are both communication and opportunities for growth, rather than problems to be solved. As a Licensed Master Social Worker and Autism Spectrum Clinical Specialist, Kristina holds numerous credentials for working in both clinical and school settings. She feels it is a privilege to walk alongside parents as they learn to help their individual, unique children thrive.
Kristina believes that being in nature is a critical part of raising happy, healthy children, and her contributions to family support and parent education with the ODC Network have been substantial. She co-hosts the Gear Up! Adventures in Parenthood Podcast, bringing expert insights and practical guidance to families navigating the joys and challenges of raising children. Kristina co-facilitates parent education classes, providing in-person parenting and child development resources and coaching to parents of children in Discovery Preschools and Early Childhood Centers. In addition, she co-authored the “Purposeful Parenting” curriculum, developing evidence-based content that helps parents understand child development and build stronger relationships with their children.
