Season 2 Rewind: The Joyful Home

Hi Listeners!

We’re thrilled to take a moment to highlight some of the most impactful and heartfelt episodes from our first two seasons.

Whether you’re revisiting a familiar favorite with fresh ears or tuning in for the very first time, these episodes are full of insight, encouragement, and wisdom worth sharing—with your friends, your family, or anyone navigating the parenting journey.

We believe in the power of returning to conversations that can speak to us in new ways over time, especially through the ever-evolving experience of raising children. Our hope is that something here lands just when you need it most.

Thank you for walking this path with us. It’s a joy to be part of your village—and an honor to have you in ours.

Enjoy these carefully chosen episodes from our journey so far.

Gratefully,

Heather & Kristina and the entire Gear Up! Adventures In Parenthood Team

Hi Friends – it’s Heather and Kristina here.

If you’re like us, you probably feel the world pulling you in a hundred directions every single day. There’s always something bigger, shinier, or louder calling for our attention. But here’s the truth we’ve been reminding ourselves (and each other): joy doesn’t usually come wrapped in fireworks. It’s tucked into the everyday, ordinary moments.

In our latest rewind episode, we share why joy matters, how it’s different from happiness, and practical ways to create more of it — for ourselves, our families, and the children we care for. Here are three things you’ll take away when you listen:

1. Joy Isn’t Happiness — It’s Deeper 🌟

Happiness is fleeting — often tied to “stuff” or circumstances. Joy, on the other hand, lives inside of us. It’s that quiet delight when you notice your child’s sleepy face, the pride in finishing a project, or the peace of a walk in the sunshine. When we slow down and pay attention, joy is right there waiting.

2. Joy is Contagious 💞

Research shows even small moments of joy have a “halo effect” — boosting our health, strengthening relationships, and spreading positivity to the people around us. Joy lowers stress, helps our bodies heal, and makes us more resilient. And the best part? When we choose joy, we model it for our children and teach them to look for it too.

3. Joy Can Be Cultivated 🌱

Some people seem naturally wired for joy — but we can all grow it. Simple traditions, gratitude practices, playful rituals, or just making time for what we love all help us build a “joy space” in our daily lives. And when we share joy with others — our spouses, children, neighbors, and friends — we multiply it.

At the end of the day, joy isn’t about doing more or chasing something extraordinary. It’s about noticing what’s already here and making room for it. 💛

We’d love for you to listen to this episode and then share it with your “village” — friends, grandparents, teachers, caregivers — anyone who’s on a parenting journey. Together, we can choose joy and spread it in our families, classrooms, and communities.

Let’s remind each other: joy begets joy. 🌸

With gratitude,
Heather & Kristina
