Heather Bouwman
Support Services Director
Heather Bouwman serves as Support Services Director at Little Hawks Discovery Preschool, where she brings decades of professional experience as a master’s-level clinical social worker and personal insight as a mom of three. Heather believes that every child and every family deserves guidance, connection, and encouragement—and she is committed to providing that support in every interaction.
Heather finds great joy in nurturing children’s love for the natural world and all living things. Deeply rooted in developmentally appropriate practice, she is passionate about preserving childhood, fostering curiosity and wonder through play, and helping children grow through meaningful, nature-based experiences. For Heather, this work matters because it honors what childhood should be—a time of exploration, discovery, and connection to the world around us. She values honesty, sincerity, and a good sense of humor, and brings these qualities into every aspect of her work.
Heather’s contributions to family support and parent education have made a lasting impact on the ODC Network community. As co-host of the Gear Up! Adventures in Parenthood Podcast, Heather reaches parents near and far with a blend of professional insight, personal stories, heartfelt advice, and plenty of humor. Heather also co-facilitates parent education classes, providing in-person support and resources to the parents of children in Discovery Preschools and Early Childhood Centers. And she co-authored the “Purposeful Parenting” curriculum, a comprehensive resource that equips parents with developmentally appropriate parenting strategies that deepen their understanding of their child’s growth and needs.
