Kim Burmeister
Director of Reimagining Education
Kim Burmeister serves as Director of Reimagining Education at ODC Network, where she leads strategic efforts to scale nature-based, place-based learning across regional school systems. She brings a unique private-sector perspective to this work, with more than 25 years of experience spanning logistics, operations, and technology, including executive leadership as CEO of SpinDance, a Holland-based software consultancy.
Kim’s career has been defined by her ability to translate vision into execution—leading high-performing teams through complex organizational change, launching new programs, and building systems that drive sustainable growth. Her background in operations, strategy, and cross-functional leadership allows her to approach education not just as a program, but as a system—one that must be thoughtfully designed, implemented, and supported to create lasting impact.
At ODC, Kim is focused on building and scaling the Reimagining Education model, helping schools integrate outdoor, nature-based learning into everyday practice. She works closely with school leaders, educators, and community partners to identify barriers, define outcomes, and develop practical, sustainable pathways for change. Her work is grounded in the belief that meaningful transformation in education requires both bold vision and disciplined execution.
Kim is also deeply committed to leadership development, known for empowering teams by defining clear outcomes while creating space for individuals to grow, contribute, and lead. She believes that strong, aligned teams are essential to driving innovation and achieving long-term success.
For Kim, this work is both urgent and deeply personal. As the world continues to evolve, she believes education must evolve with it—ensuring students develop the critical thinking, adaptability, empathy, and real-world problem-solving skills needed to thrive. Expanding access to outdoor, place-based learning is a powerful way to build those skills while reconnecting students to the world around them.
Outside of her work at ODC, Kim is an active member of the West Michigan community. She serves on the West Coast Chamber board and is involved with local organizations including The Panther Fund and West Ottawa Youth Football. She and her husband, John, have three children and spend much of their time outdoors as a family.
