The Reconnection Challenge Starts Now

This spring, more than 2,000 West Michigan residents gathered for Unplugged: Disconnect to Reconnect—four evenings of honest conversation about screens, connection, and what it looks like to build a life with more room for the things that actually matter. Together, we wrote postcards to our future selves, organized playgroups, and started conversations with an eye toward change in our schools and our neighborhoods.

The series ended. The movement didn’t.

This summer, we’re taking the next step. We’re launching the Reconnection Challenge—a series designed to get you and the people you love outside, moving, and genuinely together.

Each month carries a theme tied to a specific activity and a local park where you can live it out. In June, the theme is Play—and we’re kicking things off at the Outdoor Discovery Center Grand Reopening. It’s the perfect moment: a newly reimagined space, warm West Michigan summer energy, and an open invitation to simply enjoy.

Here’s how to participate:

  1. Get outside and play
  2. Share a photo tagging @ODCNetwork
  3. You’ll be entered to win this month’s prize package

More activities—Splash! Ride! Hike!—are coming throughout the summer and fall.

Getting outside changes everything. Start in June. Bring someone with you.
